Gone Fishing
Gone Fishing
Henry David Thoreau wrote, “In wildness is the preservation
of the world.” A quote from his 1862 essay titled ‘Walking.’
He was speaking of our untamed spirit that leads us outside
into Nature and refreshes our soul. I think that men and women
who hike and ride in our parks and open spaces are seeking that
renewed energy. When you look at my grandmother Jessamine’s
photos of her guests and family out fishing in the Big Horn
mountain’s creeks and lakes you can feel that wonderful “escape”
into the outdoors. So, you catch a few fish while you are at it.
That too lifts your spirits and is fun!

Next is Jessamine’s daughter Phyllis on the shore of Cross
Creek Lake in the Big Horn mountains. You could just as
easily sit down and contemplate the spectacular scenery and
forget all about fishing, unless you were anticipating a nice
fish fry later. Dated August 3, 1924.

This group of fishermen could get lost in the reflected clouds
and the beauty of the lake. And, of course, your dog can come
along too.

Thank goodness, here is the end result, yummy food
around the fire with singing.
